Facebook Messenger is trialling one of Snapchat’s most popular features

It's one of the reasons Snapchat is so popular.

One of the main features that keeps people addicted to Snapchat is their fear of losing a “streak” with a friend.

After you’ve snapped your friend for several days in a row, you get on a streak — denoted by a little fire emoji that tells you how long it’s been since you and your friend last went a day without exchanging snaps.

Now Facebook’s instant messaging app Messenger is trialling a similar feature, also referred to as a streak, but this time using the lightning emoji alongside a message letting you know how many days in a row you’ve messaged your mate.

Facebook confirmed to CNET on November 24 that they are indeed trialling this measure on limited accounts to see how it takes off.
