Fortnite

This is great news for gamers.

Have you ever got the same game as your friend, and wanted to play against them online?

But often times, you’ll run into the issue of having a different console to your pal, and having to wait until you see them in person to see who’s the ultimate gamer?

Well, if you’re a Fortnite fan, that issue is no more.

Sony announced on Wednesday that they would finally permit cross-platform gaming for Fortnite, to the delight of gamers everywhere.

The game will allow cross-platform gameplay across Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and a number of other consoles.

In a statement released by the company, they said: “Following a comprehensive evaluation process, SIE has identified a path toward supporting cross-platform features for select third-party content.

“We recognize that PS4 players have been eagerly awaiting an update, and we appreciate the community’s continued patience as we have navigated through this issue to find a solution.

“The first step will be an open beta beginning today for Fortnite that will allow for cross-platform gameplay, progression and commerce across PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Mac operating systems.

“We see the beta as an opportunity to conduct thorough testing that ensures cross-platform play is best on PlayStation, while being mindful about the user experience from both a technical and social perspective.”

Sounds good to us. We wonder if they will start to do the same with other games.
