Good news because plenty of Irish towns are getting a new broadband provider

Paul Moore

Is your county here?

A lack of fibre-optic broadband networks in rural Ireland can be a huge cause of frustration but SIRO, the open-access broadband provider, has just announced that they will invest €40 million to expand its services in six locations in the Republic.

Mullingar, Newbridge, Ennis, Portlaoise, Drogheda and Carlow are the locations that will be developed in the immediate future but the expansion isn’t being confined to just these locations.

SIRO have stated that by the end of the year, they plan to commence work in 17 other towns across the country meaning that all of the following locations will also have improved broadband connectivity;

Dundalk, Cavan, Carrigaline, Sligo, Letterkenny, Tralee, Wexford, Drogheda, Westport, Castlebar, Mullingar, Newbridge, Ennis, Ratheniska, Carlow and Skibbereen.

Happy days!
