A centre of excellence will open at the end of the year

Many of you may have heard of the taxi-sharing app Uber but the brand is set to become even more prominent in Ireland after plans were announced to open a centre of excellence in Limerick, the first of its kind outside the US.

The company will be looking to employ 150 people from the beginning but this number is expected to double when it becomes fully operational.

The company has laid the groundwork after agreeing a ten-year lease on Thomas Street and the recruitment process has already begun with 50 positions advertised.
