Here’s how to find out what your internet browser knows about you

Carl Kinsella

Your browser might know more information about you than you’d like to think.

Webkay is an app that tells you what your browser knows about you, and can share with any website that requests the info — right down to your location.

“Webkay uses the Google Geolocation API to locate you. This example just tries to demonstrate how accurate a website can guess your location without asking you for permission to access your GPS,” the website explains.

“This is a demonstration of all the data your browser knows about you. All this data can be accessed by any website without asking you for any permission.”

Webkay can also accurately predict the software and hardware you use, as well which social media websites you’re logged into — including Facebook, Twitter and Google.

If you want to see for yourself, you can see what your browser knows about you by visiting this website. Try not to get too freaked out.
