Here’s what the new reaction you’ve been seeing on Facebook means and how you can get it

In case you were wondering…

You’ve probably seen it on your timeline over the past few days and it’s certainly becoming more prominent.

In addition to the standard “like”, “heart”, “haha”, “wow”, “sad” and “angry” reactions on Facebook, the social media platform has introduced a new “pride” reaction.

The rainbow flag themed reaction started appearing on people’s timelines over the weekend and it’s been brought in to celebrate pride month for the LGBTQ community.

A spokesperson for the company said: “As Pride celebrations begin around the world, Facebook is proud to support our diverse community, including those that have identified themselves on Facebook as gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender or gender non-conforming.

“In fact, this year, over 12 million people across the globe are part of one of the 76,000 Facebook Groups in support of the LGBTQ community, and more than 1.5 million people plan to participate in one of the more than 7,500 Pride events on Facebook.”

But the reaction is not immediately available for users of Facebook, there’s a couple of simple steps you have to follow in order to unlock the reaction.

All you have to do is…

1. Log into Facebook
2. Go to the LGBTQ@Facebook page and hit the “like” button
3. You can react with pride to posts.
