Here it is… The new M9.

HTC unveiled their newest flagship model and the latest handset to take on the iPhone 6 today at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona where they also showed off some other pretty cool and never before seen products.

But first, the HTC One M9…

Aesthetically, the phone looks pretty similar to the outgoing HTC One M8, which to be fair, isn’t a bad thing at all. The M8 has won a string of awards for it’s styling and design, so why change what’s not broken?

The HTC One M9 will be available in dual-tone silver and rose gold, single-tone gunmetal grey and single-tone gold in Ireland.

HTC tells us that handsets will be available to pre-order on select partner websites from 16th March and available to buy in-store across all listed partners from 31st March, as well as at htc.com/ie.

Unlocked and Developer Editions of the HTC One M9 will also be available from via htc.com.

Photography fans will be glad to hear that the new HTC One M9 features a whopping 20 mega pixel camera on the back and it comes equipped with a rake of new editing features, which is sure to keep you busy.

Selfie fans will also be glad to hear that the HTC One M9 features HTC’s class leading Ultrapixel camera on the front, which allows you to take pictures in dark lighting. Basically, the M8’s rear-facing camera now features as the M9’s front facing camera.

That’s going to be perfect for when you hit the club and want to take a few selfies with the DJ in his dimly lit booth.

The HTC One M9 will be highly customisable thanks to HTC Sense 7, which can change your homescreen apps based on your location. For example, HTC Sense 7 will know if you’re at home or at work and so it pushes the most important apps that you use in those locations to your homescreen. It’s a great idea to be fair.

HTC have also unveiled their new dot cover cases that allow you to play games and see your homescreen without opening the case.

JOE was in London earlier in the week to check out the phone first hand. HTC tells us that they don’t expect to see a lot of people upgrading from the M8 to the M9, as the M8 is still a great phone in it’s own right, but instead, they see people moving from other brands or people upgrading from the M7.

It really is a great looking phone and we’ll be looking forward to giving it a thorough testing later in the month.
