If you’re having problems with your battery life, you should delete your Facebook app

It drinks your battery…

When buying a smartphone, one of the first questions you ask is, how long will the battery last?

The answer varies wildly from phone to phone and you’ll likely hear claims that it will certainly last a full day without needing to be connected to a charger… but these claims often turn out to be false.

Facebook has long had issues with Android phones and it has never run quite as smoothly as it does on iOS leading to frustration among users.

Android Central’s Russell Holly decided to test out the performance of his Android phone after uninstalling the app and he was pleasantly surprised by the results.

Holly found that his Android’s performance and battery life improved dramatically when the Facebook app was removed from the phone.

But, while he loves Facebook and uses it regularly, he didn’t lose any of the features that he regularly uses on Facebook by accessing it through a browser.

Further to this, Tech World Zone tested out the Metal app for Android, which is basically a wrapper for Facebook’s mobile site. They found that over the course of a day, they used 20% less battery using this app rather than the standard Facebook one.

Facebook told Tech World Zone that: “We have heard reports of a few people encountering speed issues coming from our Android application. We are investigating this and will update you as often as possible. We are focused on keeping on enhancing these issues.”
