You know the way Instagram is mostly about likes and less about the comments etc?

Well, the new feature Instagram is quietly rolling out will throw the stuff the people you follow ‘like’, right onto your feed in a ‘Recommended For You’ section.

The feature, as outlined in Instagram’s Help documents, will suggest posts for you based on those that have been liked by other accounts you follow.

‘Recommended For You’ was tested in recent months and was quietly brought into effect on people’s timelines recently according to TechCrunch.

Instagram revealed that the new feature will not get in the way of accounts you specifically follow and will instead reveal itself when you’ve seen all the posts on offer on your feed from people you follow.

It’s seems to be like a combination of the ‘Following’ section and the ‘Search and Explore’ section, both of which are methods of finding photos and videos from accounts you don’t follow.

As far as we know, there’s no way to opt out of this new feature apart from temporarily hiding it whenever it appears on your timeline.

It follows the new feature of following hashtags which Instagram recently introduced. With the new feature, you can select to follow a particular hashtag, and posts with these hashtags will begin appearing on your timeline.
