Instagram is making a well-needed change we think everyone will agree with

Anyone who’s a frequent user of the app will be happy to hear that the days of seeing old posts are very nearly gone.

Instagram has felt the heat recently with legions of its users complaining about the nonsensical nature of its current algorithm.

The photo-sharing app has received complaints about how, upon opening Instagram, keen social media users are only being shown photos from days or even weeks ago rather than recent snaps.

However, the end of days-old photos is nigh as on Thursday afternoon, the Facebook-owned service announced that it’s implementing new changes to its algorithm.

“With these changes, your feed will feel more fresh, and you won’t miss the moments you care about,” Instagram said in a blog post.

The changes are set to prioritise newer posts in your feed, therefore reducing the number of old posts that appear upon opening up the app.

The change comes after users have complained of seeing old posts in their Instagram feeds following the app’s switch from a chronological-based display back in 2016.

Back in 2016, Instagram changed the way its algorithm worked as to allow the app’s primary feed to function in a similar manner to Facebook’s non-chronological flow of information.

However, fans of the app were not happy – prompting the powers-that-be to do something about it.. Today, Instagram is crediting feedback from users for provoking the latest tweaks.

The company took to its blog to thank users for making their voices heard, and to allow the app to be the best it can possibly be.

“Based on your feedback, we’re also making changes to ensure that newer posts are more likely to appear first in feed.

“With these changes, your feed will feel more fresh, and you won’t miss the moments you care about. So if your best friend shares a selfie from her vacation in Australia, it will be waiting for you when you wake up.”
