JOE’s TechXplanation: DUFL App

Dead handy

Joe Harrington

Tech explained.

Welcome to JOE’s weekly TechXplanation, where we take the most about talked about pieces of tech/apps and give you the knowledge.

This week we’re taking a look at an app that could change the way people travel, it’s called Dufl.

So what is it?

Sign up to DUFL and they’ll send you a suitcase to fill with the clothes you typically wear when you’re abroad. Then they’ll send someone over to pick up the suitcase and take it to their warehouse.

Once in the warehouse, they will inventory what you’ve sent and put pictures of the clothes on your account.

Using the app, select which clothes you’d like to take from your DUFL virtual closet, then enter your destination and arrival date.

You can then travel luggage-free and when you arrive at your hotel, the clothes will be all there waiting for you.

When you’re going home, just schedule a pick-up, add a shipping label and leave your bag at the hotel. Simple.

Why is it in the news?

It’s been touted as one of the most exciting apps for business people in America, where it’s currently only available, and it could be a game-changer for people who frequently travel on business.

Why should I be using it?

You should be using because it takes the hassle out of travelling.

Imagine how nice it would be to travel with a light carry-on bag and arrive at your hotel with all your clothes waiting for you, it’s the dream.

Thats-too-easy

Cost?

Free to download, but it’s pricey after that. It’s aimed at the business sector so it’s more of a luxury option more than anything else.

The introductory price is $9.95 per month for storage and $99 per round trip, that includes shipping to your destination, return shipping to the warehouse and all cleaning fees.

We know it’s expensive but if you travel a lot and can afford it, it’s a no-brainer.

What’s the alternative?

Well, in terms of apps, we haven’t seen any, but we suppose the alternative is dragging huge suitcases through the airport.
