The makers of Half-Life and Portal are working on THREE full VR games

Whether you like it or not, virtual reality does seem set to be the next step in the evolution of gaming.

We’ve seen the Oculus Rift and the PS-VR and the Samsung Gear all arrive, but so far most of the games that have been available on these systems have felt like little more than elongated demos.

However, with the recent arrival of the very VR-friendly Resident Evil 7 – if you haven’t tried it with the headset yet then we recommend bringing a change of underwear, because it is terrifying – this week brought an even bigger announcement, one that’ll surely have games fans drooling.

Gabe Newell, the co-founder of Valve Corporation, told Polygon that the company is currently working on three full virtual reality games. That’s right, the people behind the Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress and Left4Dead series have a very busy line-up ahead of them.

Newell stated that his team had attempted to incorporate VR into both Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2, but the technology wasn’t quite there yet. While he wouldn’t confirm the nature of the games, he did say they were “all very different from one another”.

Could this possibly mean, after thirteen long years left on that cliffhanger, we could finally be getting Half-Life 3? Watch this space…
