Mechs on the brain…

Titanfall 2 has got six playable Titans online, and we’ve already covered some of the reasons to be excited. The game is all about the bond between pilot and mech, so it’s important to get to know some of the different characters you’re going to be playing with.

Joel Emslie, Titanfall 2‘s Art Director, has said that they wanted each Titan to have a distinct feel when you play as them, but also a distinct look – “as if it were a Street Fighter game.”

What does that mean for us? Above all else, it means we’re gonna get some pretty slick looking robots.

Scorch

Take a look at the GIF below. Does that look like a Titan you wanna mess with?

Scorch is able to manipulate fire, and he’s got incendiary weapons for both offense and defense. Dead handy now that winter’s approaching.

Ion

One of the game’s producers, Drew McCoy said “Ion is all about lasers, precision and resource management. So it’s a completely different style of gameplay.”

Also, it’s equipped with a Splitter Cannon and Vortex Shield which can grab enemy projectiles and relaunch them in the other direction. I can do that as well, but my mammy just calls it “throwing paper”.

Legion

This lad’s built like a tank. Literally. He’s got a huge ballistic cannon that could cut through you like butter.

Don’t expect to be able to take him down easily.

Northstar

Northstar is a master of flight, and also capable of sick precision kills. Its primary weapon is a huge Plasma Railgun, as well as some Cluster Missiles.

Imagine that, a sniper who can fly. You wouldn’t want to bump into this chap in the corner shop.

Tone

Tone is kitted out with a huge tracker cannon, so you can’t get away. His rockets are super powerful, and his superior target-locking abilities mean he can take down an enemy from afar.

Ronin

This lad specialises in melee combat. Just in case you were in any doubt, he’s got a big massive techno-sword. What’s a techno sword, I hear you ask? Wouldn’t it be easier to use a gun than a huge, mechanical Sword Core? Well, whatever.

Talk to the techno-sword.

The developers have also announced that you’re going to be able to trick out your Titan with slick customisation, so it really stands out on the battlefield.

Titanfall 2 is out, so start thinking about which Titan will suit your play-style best.

Titanfall 2 is available in Ireland now.
