Nintendo are bringing back the original NES with some of its best games built-in

Conor Heneghan

Fantastic news.

If you grew up in the ‘80s, then there’s a good chance that the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) will have played an integral role in your childhood.

Though video gaming has come on in leaps and bounds since then, there are many who will claim that it never got better than the simple 8-bit offerings we played in our youth, classics like the original Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt, for example.

Those of us who loved the original NES will be delighted to hear that Nintendo are bringing it back, with 30 in-built games, in November of this year.

A mini-replica of Nintendo’s original console, it can be plugged directly into a high-definition TV using a HDMI cable (included) and comes with one Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controller and 30 in-built games.

Those games include *pause for breath and anticipation* Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3, Bubble Bobble, Mega Man, Pac Man, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong and Double Dragon II: The Revenge.

If you already own a Nintendo Wii, then a Classic Controller or a Classic Controller Pro can be used to play two-player games, while the Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controllers will also be sold separately.

Nintendo say that the console is due for release on 11 November.

We know what we’re getting this Christmas.
