Everyone says that professional footballers are detached from real life and they’ve no connection with the normal everyday supporter anymore and in most cases that’s correct but not with former Real Madrid and Dutch international Royston Drenthe.
Drenthe has been a bit of a controversial character down through the years but he’s playing his football at Reading now and he did something the other day that makes him a top man in our eyes.
The Dutchman post on his Instagram account that he was offering four Reading fans a chance to call over to his house for a FIFA tournament and whoever ended up champion won a prize.
Drenthe duly followed through and the lads called over, the winger posted these updates on his Instagram account…
