Take a look inside the workings of the internet. It’s mainly cables

Ever wondered how your selfie makes it across the Atlantic? This is a map of all the internet cables along the bottom of the ocean (laid by mermaids, as we understand it) put together by the good folks at TeleGeography.com and it shows all of the cables and connections that not only go across the Atlantic, but also all around the world, delivering one of the greatest technological advancements in the history of mankind straight to our doors.

We mainly use it to kill other people in video games like Call of Duty, but apparently other people use it for research and communication, and some important stuff or whatever. Either way, the map is very cool, and gives you an idea of the sheer amount of cables involved in bringing us wireless internet. Oh the irony… The map below ain’t so big, so click on it for a bigger version.

Many of you will have arrived here expecting to see something like this, so we’d better not disappoint.

Remember, just don’t type Google into Google, it will break the internet.
