Remember Micro Machines? They’re coming back for the PS4 and Xbox One

Rory Cashin

Outside of maybe Mario Kart, no video game in video game history caused more irreprable rifts between friends and family members as Micro Machines.

The teeny tiny high speed racer was as much about skill as it was about luck, as you find yourself driving along the outside of a pool table like it was the Grand Canyon, across the cues and avoiding the pockets…

… until, that is, one of your fellow racers gives you a little nudge, sending you off the track and into oblivion, and also into a blinding rage that you don’t wake from for several hours.

The incredibly addictive game was THE GAME to have on the Sega Mega Drive in the mid-90s, but with racing games aiming to get more and more realistic, Micro Machines unfortunately fell out of favour.

However, with this upgraded reboot on the horizon, and the recent release of WipEout (another incredbly 1990’s racing game) what else should we expect?

Destruction Derby? Twisted Metal? We can but dream…

But until then, we don’t have long to wait for Micro Machines World Series, as it arrives on PS4, Xbox One and PC from June 30!
