That change to Twitter’s timeline is here, and there’s no need to panic (yet)

Tony Cuddihy

Twitter has made the biggest change to its timeline in the company’s history, but the change is strictly opt-in – for now.

The app and website today released a feature that shows you the most relevant tweets at the top of your timeline, regardless of when they were sent.

It’s a major change for Twitter but, for the moment, the new feature is strictly opt-in and you’re free to stick to the normal reverse chronological timeline if you so wish.

If you have “Show me the best tweets first” enabled, you’ll see a chunk of non-chronological tweets (as many as a dozen) at the top of your timeline each time you open the app.

Your timeline will look the same, apart from the timestamps on the tweets.
