Gamers all over the world will be well aware that FIFA16 is about to be launched upon us and die-hard fans everywhere are as giddy as kids on Christmas Eve.
The two League of Ireland players on the cover have been decided by a poll vote of LOI players and fans with over 80,000 votes registered throughout the campaign.
The cover is available via download and features Andy Boyle from Dundalk and Ciaran O’Connor of Derry City. Ciaran is on loan at Derry from Dundalk so you can imagine that the Dundalk fans voted in their droves!
Andy Boyle (pictured above) from Dundalk said he was surprised to be the Dundalk choice and even more surprised to have won out in the end.
When I asked him what his highest attribute would be on FIFA16 he said “Well, being a defender I would hope it’s heading or tackling! It’s the one game I play so I am looking forward to getting stuck into it.”
On Dundalk’s succes and the remainder of the season he hopes that Dundalk will finish with a cup final appearance at the Aviva. “It would be amazing to play in a fantastic stadium with a big crowd watching, so we will be doing everything to get there.”
The other player on the cover is the lesser known Ciaran O’Connor (above) who is on loan at Derry City from Dundalk.
Ciaran was very surprised but elated to have been chosen. “It’s one of those things that you never expect to happen. To appear on the cover alongside someone like Lionel Messi is a huge honour and it’s thanks to the Derry City and Dundalk fans for voting for me.”
The SSE Airtricity League FIFA 16 sleeve can be downloaded at https://www.easports.com/uk/fifa/club-packs/league-of-ireland from tomorrow September 24th on all formats, including Xbox One® and PlayStation 4® packs.
