The robots are coming and they want our jobs… according to this report

All hail our future robotic overlords...

JOE

“Damn robots, coming over here and taking our jobs…”

Those words will be uttered on the streets soon enough if a new report from Deloitte and the University of Oxford is to be believed.

The report stated that ten million jobs in the UK could be taken over by robots in the next 20 years. That’s one in three roles in their country…

If this is the case in Britain, it’s safe to say Ireland will be close behind. We already have plenty of robots doing jobs which were previously reserved for humans – there’s self service checkouts, motorised car washes and Brendan O’Connor presenting a TV show.

Just to be clear, JOE wants to be the first to say: “All hail our future over robotic overlords.”

JOE reckons the vast majority of entrepreneurs will always want a human to blame if something goes wrong. After all, you do look a little crazy screaming at a machine… just think of the last time you shouted at your toaster.

The human touch is definitely still of the utmost importance, so most of us should be safe, for now. No guarantee for you though, Brendan…
