Thinking of getting an iPhone 7? You should take note of this

Alan Loughnane

Before you spend your money…

It seems that there’s a big difference in the performance of the various models of the new iPhone 7.

Apple eliminated the base model 16GB with the release of the iPhone 7. This model had been plagued with memory problems throughout the duration of its life and was the cause of much frustration for users.

There are now three options available to buyers of the iPhone each one with increasing memory, along with increasing prices. There’s the 32GB, the 128GB or 256GB versions.

But, while you may think you can settle for the modest 32GB version, you should know that it provides a significantly slower performance than the higher memory versions.

According to GSMArena and Unbox Therapy, the speed of the storage is significantly slower on the 32GB.

Writing to your storage, which includes saving photos, videos, music or apps on the phone, the 32GB iPhone lagged severely behind the 128GB iPhone 7.

Where the 128GB iPhone 7 wrote to memory at 341Mbps, but the 32GB iPhone 7 was over eight times slower at just 42Mbps.

When GSMArena tested their iPhone 7, they found that the it only reached write speeds of only 39.6Mbps with the 128GB iPhone reaching speeds of 308Mbps in comparison.

It seems it’s not just the size of memory that you’re getting with the bigger versions.
