Silencer, a handy Chrome extension, will save all your favourite TV shows and movies from being spoiled

The internet went a bit mad this week when everyone got very upset about all the Game of Thrones spoilers that were floating around, and not being able to avoid them thanks to social media and so many people talking about it.

One option is to shut off the internet, leave your home and move into a cave that gets no 3G signal, or, the one we prefer, which is to get a simple extension for Chrome called Silencer, as the lads at TechCrunch have recommended.

mute packs

Silencer allows you to type in key words or terms that will then be muted on your feed, from your favourite TV show to the constant stream of updates about how great Beyoncé is, if that’s your thing. You can even use it to mute people you don’t like but can be seen to unfollow, for political reasons. Sneaky, right?
