The top 25 passwords leaked online in 2018 have been revealed and people using these passwords are warned that they may be vulnerable to cyber-attacks and data breaches.

The list was determined after SkOUT Secure Intelligence evaluated passwords that have leaked online in the last year.

The top two slots have been left unchanged for the fifth year in a row and quite frankly, if either ‘123456’ or ‘password’ is your actual password, then you deserve to get hacked.

Several of the 25 included passwords were repeats from previous years, but there were a handful of new ones.

Commenting on the findings, SkOUT Chief Technology Officer and President Jessvin Thomas said: “A good password is the first line of defence between your data and an attacker, so it is vitally important that you make password security a priority in your personal and business life.

“If you are guilty of reusing, rotating, or using notoriously weak passwords, you are making yourself or your business an easy target for attackers. Reusing passwords for email, banking, and social media accounts can lead to identify theft, business downtime, and many other situations.”
