Twitter rolls out changes to character limit in tweets

A big change…

Twitter have finally implemented the changes to their character limit in tweets that they announced back in May.

The changes mean that photos, GIFs, videos, polls and quoted tweets will no longer count towards your 140 character limit in your tweet.

Twitter recently made updates which allow you to retweet or quote your own tweets, something which had previously not been on option on the social media site.

In another change, it’s rumoured that Twitter are considering removing twitter handles from replies. This will eliminate wasting characters on Twitter handles in group tweets but for now it is just in the testing phase.

Twitter has seen its user growth stagnate over the past 12 months and these new updates are being rolled out to make the service easier to use.

There were talks that Twitter was set to abandon it’s 140 character limit last year in favour of a 10,000 character limit but for the moment, they seem content with their latest changes.
