Conor Heneghan

Thankfully, both men survived.

Two men have been rescued after falling off a cliff while playing the wildly popular Pokemon Go game in San Diego.

According to The San Diego Union Tribune, one man fell approximately 50 feet from the cliff and another fell 90 foot onto a beach in Encinitas on Thursday afternoon.

Encinitas fire Battalion Chief Robbie Ford said that the man who fell onto the beach told sheriff’s deputies that both men had been playing Pokemon Go when they fell over the edge of the cliff at approximately 1pm.

The age of the two men is not known but they were both taken to a trauma centre in nearby La Jolla with unspecified injuries.

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last fortnight or so, you’ll know that Pokemon Go, a virtual reality game that allows players to train and capture virtual Pokemon characters who pop up in real-life locations on a user’s mobile device, has taken the world by storm.
