The folks behind Android are moving into wearable tech, and their new operating system promises big things

We’ve seen plenty of ventures into the world of wearable tech, from Samsung to Sony, but Android have turned to making their operating system available across those platforms with a version called Android Wear, and we must admit that it’s a bit more aesthetically-pleasing than other efforts.

It brings the information to your device that’s most relevant to you, relying heavily on Google Now, which you might be familiar with from your Android phone or tablet. You’ll be able to do a bit more than the usual with Andoid Wear, making much more use of voice functionality by the looks of these few examples of how it can help you in your everyday life. Your everyday life of cycling fixie bikes around San Francisco, of course.

They’ve announced this because they’ve made a version available for developers to get their hands on and start making new apps and increasing the functionality of the OS before general release.

According to Time Magazine, Google are saying that they have plenty of partners for the hardware side of things, including Asus, HTC, LG, Motorola and Samsung, but perhaps most interestingly Fossil, who make real watches that tell the time and are not butt-ugly, are also on board in some way, which makes the fashionista in us happy.
