Ch ch ch ch, ah ah ah ah…
It is hard to think of an equally terrible movie that has had such a lasting, profound effect on modern society as Friday The 13th. We’re not saying we didn’t enjoy the trashy nature, but come on, it was a really badly made movie. Plus there’s been, like, twelve of them.
Anyways, with horror games on the up and up lately – see recent entries Resident Evil 7, Until Dawn or SOMA for evidence – we’ve finally got around to getting a Friday The 13th game.
At the moment it will be released solely as a multi-player game, with a number of people playing the barely dressed human knife racks, and one lucky person picked at random to play the stab-happy hockey fan.
Eventually there will be more solo player stuff added, while the original movie’s director Sean Cunningham composer Harry Manfredini (he’s the genius behind that “Ch ch ch ah ah ah…” sound) both involved, as well as actor Kane Hodder returning to motion capture the role of Jason.
Friday The 13th: The Game will be released on PS4, XBox One and Steam on 26 May.
Here’s the trailer, and consider yourself warned, Jason is not exactly a haemophobia…
