Who’s ready to rip and tear once again?

“That’s where it all starts for us; killing badass demons with big guns in unbelievable places.”

So say the developers of the upcoming Doom Eternal, as details finally emerge about the next crazy ride through hell.

The creators have promised “the strongest and most powerful hero we’ve ever created” which hopefully won’t mean a downslope in difficulty, but hey that’s what the highest setting is for, after all.

2016’s series revival proved to be one of the most enjoyable, carnage-filled games in years, thanks largely to a, ‘Yeah, we know exactly what this is’ tone and terrific, repetitive-in-a-good-way carnage that unfolded with the right amount of weight and action.

That, and a ridiculously fun metal soundtrack that provides endless fast-paced rhythm to your mayhem.

Doom Eternal will harken all the way back to 1994’s Doom II: Hell on Earth, once again bringing the broadly-drawn evil enemies to home soil.

As noted above, the ‘Doom Guy’ as he is known is getting an upgrade in terms of both his available tech and his abilities, making for an all-round more fluid experience.

Weapons will also be boosted, and if you’re in this thing for the gore factor, that’s going to upped significantly, too.

A full presentation at QuakeCon this weekend saw game director Marty Stratton and creative director Hugo Martin unveil around 15 to 20 minutes of actual gameplay and it’s safe to say the thing looks pretty much exactly as you’d want it to if you played the hell out of Doom 2016.

No release date as of yet, but Doom Eternal is expected to land on PS4, Xbox One, PC and the Nintendo Switch at some point in 2019.

For now, gorge on the latest violent delights below.
