What do you think?

It’s expected that one of the next big tech trends is going to be foldable smartphones and we may be seeing the future of this today.

Xiaomi has released a video showing a prototype of their foldable smartphone being demonstrated on camera by Lin Bin, the company’s co-founder and president.

The Chinese technology company revealed the prototype in a post to the social media site Weibo. It promised the “double-folding” device was coming and looked for help from the public in naming the device.

The folding Xiaomi handset is shown first in tablet mode and then it folds in two places, leaving the middle third on the outside of the front of the device and two smaller sections wrapped around to the rear.

Xiaomi’s folding phone is a prototype at this stage but the company has said it would consider putting it into production if there is enough interest.

Further details on the phone are scarce, but we like what we see so far.

Samsung and the start-up Royole have previously revealed iterations of the concept, however, their devices only folded once.
