We've got some good news and some bad news about Red Dead Redemption 2

Which do you want first?

We'll get the bad news out of the way, shall we?

While we were all waiting to get lost in the old west this Christmas, it has been announced by publishers Rockstar Games - the folks behind the first game, as well as the GTA series - that Red Dead Redemption 2 has had it's release date postponed to "Spring 2018".

That is about the extent of the bad news, as the rest has got us very excited.

Apparently, the delay in the game is most likely because they want it to be 4K compatible so it can be played on the new Microsoft Scorpio and the Sony PS4 Pro consoles.

The CEO of distributors Take-Two Interactive stated "The purpose of the delay of Red Dead Redemption 2 is to make sure we deliver the most extraordinary experience we're capable of providing. We haven't run into particular [technical] issues [with development], and we are building Red Dead Redemption 2 as a new game from the ground up for the first time for the new generation of consoles."

"The pressure that we put on ourselves to deliver excellence and delight consumers is extraordinary. So we want to make sure the appropriate time is taken to ensure we can do the best job we can. I think that's what consumers expect from Rockstar Games, and that's what Rockstar Games typically delivers."

"So we emphatically support the label's decision [to delay the game], and we're utterly confident that time will prove that decision to be wise first and foremost creatively and artistically and economically as well."

All you have to do is look at the some of the recently released images from the game to see how impressive it is going to look, and if they can match those visuals with gameplay as good as the first, then you've practically got a guaranteed winner on your hands.

Rockstar Games have promised more information on the game will be released this summer, and with giant games conference E3 happening in mid-June, it won't be long before we potentially get to see something awesome.
