WhatsApp confirm their app will stop working on these six smartphones later this year

Joe Harrington

Nightmare if you own any of these.

WhatsApp has released a statement confirming that development on their app means it’ll no longer work on a number of smartphones.

From the end of 2016, WhatsApp will stop working on Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60, Android 2.1 and Android 2.2, Windows Phone 7.1 and BlackBerry 10.

If you own one of those phones, you’re probably like…

Oh Hell No

WhatsApp said this in their statement:

“This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp.

“If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp.”

We hope you aren’t affected.
