A teenager in Nottingham was scammed out of his money after handing over £450 for a photo of an Xbox One

Peter Clatworthy of Nottingham has been left with a bit of egg on his face and his wallet a lot lighter after he forked over £450 for a photo of an Xbox One console online.

Clatworthy claims that he thought the listing was legitimate, and the 19-year-old submitted his bid in confidence, only to receive a poorly printed out picture of the console with a note on the back from the seller saying “thank you for your purchase.”

Clatworthy told The Nottingham Post “it’s clear now that I’ve been conned out of my money” but that he “had to make a joke out of it because I was that angry. At least we’ve got something to laugh about in years to come.”

He has contacted eBay about the scam, and they have said that he is entitled to his money back since he paid through PayPal. Clatworthy had been saving up to buy the console for his four-year-old son for Christmas, so hopefully the money is returned to him and he can get one in time for the big day.
