Last month an eager Xbox fan got onto the lads at Microsoft to see if he would receive a free copy of FIFA 14 with his Xbox even though he didn’t order the ‘Day One Edition’. Xbox’s reply was simply and to the point…

“Doesn’t matter if it’s a Day One console or not.” Well, as it turns out, it does matter what console you ordered. Graeme Boyd, Microsoft’s social marketing manager, was on Twitter today to clear up any confusion that the official Xbox Twitter account may have made last week.
Had a few questions on this so wanted to clarify: FIFA 14 will only come free with Xbox One Day One Edition pre-orders, while stocks last.

So there you have it. You’ll only receive a free copy of FIFA 14 if you’ve pre-ordered the Xbox One ‘Day One Edition’ here in Europe.
The free copy will come in the form of a download code, but according to the guys over at IGN.com you can give the code to a mate if FIFA isn’t really your thing.
