The main event: The Killing, Channel 4, 9.00pm

Linden and Holder's attempt to arrest Bennet Ahmed is blocked when a judge refuses their request for a wiretap, causing Mitch to lose faith in the police and take her anger out on Stan. After the leak about Mayor Adams's affair fails to have the desired effect, Richmond contemplates dropping out of the race. American version of the Danish crime drama, starring Mireille Enos, Billy Campbell and Joel Kinnaman.

Sporting pick: Tottenham v Hearts, ITV4, 7.15pm

5-0 up from the play-off round first-leg fixture, Spurs are virtually guaranteed their place in the Europa League group stages – even if they field their under-14 side tonight. Kick-off is at 8.00pm.

Movie choice: A Beautiful Mind, BBC One, 11.35pm

Biopic of the brilliant American mathematician John Nash, whose prospects of a promising career with the CIA were confounded by paranoid delusions and schizophrenia, as the stress of the job proved too much of a burden. Oscar-winning drama most of us have seen but could certainly watch a second or third thime, starring Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Judd Hirsch, Paul Bettany and Christopher Plummer.
