Authorities cut off footballer’s water and electricity supply after he scores against local side

A little on the extreme side we would suggest.

A little on the extreme side we would suggest.

Tajikistani striker Ahtam Hamroqulov paid a heavy price when scoring against his home club when local authorities decided to meet out punishment by cutting off his electricity and water supply for five days.

Unless you are on the town council of Qurgonteppa, you would be hard pushed to argue that the punishment fitted the ‘crime’.

The frontman scored twice for Regar-TadAZ in their Tajikistan Cup semi-final victory over Vakhsh earlier this month, with Vakhsh being based in Qurgonteppa and a former club of the striker.

While he left the club two years ago, he still resides in the area and local authorities resorted to drastic measures.

According the The Guardian, the footballer was met by two representatives of the mayor who informed the player he owed them $600 in outstanding bills, a claim he vehemently denied, before the water and electricity were cut off in the house he shares with his parents.

It was restored after five days, but his club will again be playing Vakhsh in a league fixture on November the 2nd. Get plenty of candles in would be our advice.
