With the continued investigations into the Neymar deal, Barcelona president Sandro Rosell is feeling the pressure.

Sandro Rosell has found himself answering plenty of questions on the transfer of Neymar, in particular in the last few days, after a court in Madrid confirmed that they would be launching a formal investigation into the full cost of the transfer and that there may be differing versions of the contract in existence, according to ESPN

Orlando Rollo, the former vice-president of the Paulista Football Federation in Brazil who had worked with Santos as an advisor, described the transfer as “one of the biggest frauds in the history of world football” and El Mundo are claiming that Rosell will consider his resignation in order to preserve the club’s reputation should he be implicated in any wrongdoing and get embroiled in a long legal battle.

According to what Marca and Radio Catalunya are reporting, Rosell has called an emergency meeting with members of the board of directors of the club and that they are not ruling out an official statement being released by the club later today, or a meeting with the full board where he would discuss his resignation.

Former president Joan Laporta has popped up to weigh in on the matter on Twitter also, stating that “The president Sandro Rosell has to give an explanation to the socios of FC Barcelona. He owes it to them. His silence is damaging the image of the club”.

All in all, it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be a very good week for the Barcelona president. The latest reports suggest that if he resigns this afternoon, vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu will take over until the elections, which will take place in June of this year.
