Bolton Wanderers will make a call tomorrow as to whether the will play Blackburn on Saturday, as the club continues to come to terms with what happened to Fabrice Muamba on St Patrick’s Day.
The Trotters were scheduled to play Aston Villa tonight but that game was cancelled on Sunday and with Muamba still in intensive care, Bolton will make a call tomorrow regarding a return to action.
Members of the Bolton squad, as well as manager Owen Coyle, visited Muamba at London Chest Hospital today, with a full training session scheduled for the club tomorrow.
Speaking today, Coyle was clear where the priority was for the club at the moment.
"That's not something of great importance to me at this moment in time," said Coyle, regarding the weekend's game. "In the course of today, as we hope and pray that Fabrice continues to improve, that's something we will have to look at.
"My thoughts are that we will have the group back in training tomorrow and we will look at it from then. The one concern we all have is for Fabrice only."
Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore is also willing to leave the issue up in the air for now. "We'll check the situation again today, check the situation again tomorrow, and we'll just see how things develop," he said.
Information regarding Muamba has been sketchy today, with the hospital reporting he had a comfortable night, but Coyle did offer some updates on how the 23-year-old is recovering from his collapse against Tottenham.
"Fabrice still has a long way to go but it's encouraging signs and whilst that is the case it's really positive and we move forward from that point,” said Coyle.
"I was fortunate to see him and had a brief conversation which will obviously remain between us.
"We have to understand it's early in his continued fight for improvement but we could never have envisaged the improvement Fabrice has made from Saturday."
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has also said that he will allow any of his players who are "not in the right frame of mind to play" can sit out their game with Stoke tomorrow night.
