Controversial Hitler toilet paper causes outrage in Germany

JOE

Is it just us or is Hitler everywhere this week? First he appeared as an unlikely spokesman in a Turkish advertisement for men’s shampoo and now? Now he’s gracing some bog roll. Yes, as in that stuff you wipe your backside with.

Metro reports that an artist from Germany (of all places!) has been dealing with some severe criticism after he decided to draw Hitler’s face on some toilet paper and then unleash it onto the internet where people can buy it and have Hitler’s face looking at them every time they need to use the jacks. Lovely.

Georg Buchrucker has been fending off some very angry folk who are severely miffed at his latest work of art. Critics believe that the toilet paper sends out a very negative message to Germans and the world alike, and that it trivialises the crimes of Hitler and his Third Reich movement.

Third Reich – more like Turd Reich (sorry, we couldn’t resist…)

Despite the growing adversity over the product, George disagrees and says that his Hitler toilet paper is all for the lulz. While the artist is receiving a lot of complaints, he claims he is still getting lots of interest in the product from his fellow Germans and from people overseas.

“I am getting emails now and orders from as far afield as America and Australia,” he said.

“I’m just really pleased that my idea was so popular but I wish some people who are attacking me would loosen up a bit,” he added.

The toilet roll, affectionately known as “The Sh*tler,” features a picture of the evil dictator’s face minus his trademark moustache. The idea is simple. Users can clean themselves up and adorn Hitler’s face with a new “brown moustache.” Charming.

“My toilet paper is not just practical, it is making a point with humour. Which moustache-wearing man in history would deserve this treatment more than Hitler?” asks Georg.

He has a fair point. The Sh*tler costs €4 and if you really want to give him a new moustache, you can buy your own here.
