Welsh rugby bad boy Gavin Henson has only gone and landed himself in some hot water again, this time involving ice cubes and a plane.

Remember when Gavin Henson was famous for playing rugby? Before Charlotte Church, reality shows and any number of off-field issues, the Cardiff Blues player was the prototype of the current Welsh back line. Big, strong fast and exciting he looked like a potential superstar. Those days seem unlikely to return for the 30-year-old now.

Henson has gotten himself suspended by his fairly new club for an incident on the way home from the Blues 31-3 defeat to Glasgow on Friday night. According to reports, Henson upset his fellow passengers on the Flybe flight by throwing ice cubes around the cabin, leading the club to take very swift action.

“Cardiff Blues can confirm that Gavin Henson has been suspended with immediate effect following an incident on the flight back from Scotland after their match against Glasgow Warriors last night,” a spokesman told the club website.

“The Cardiff Blues management team will meet first thing Monday morning to discuss the matter further.”

Henson only joined the club in October after short spells at Ospreys, Saracens and Toulon. It now seems unlikely that Henson will be in the Cardiff squad for the trip to Dublin next week to play Leinster in the Heineken Cup quarter-final. Or at least if he does travel, it won’t be by plane anyway. Better book that ferry Gav.
