Get your club involved in The Big Championship for the Irish Cancer Society

JOE

Not only is a really great cause, and a handy way for you to generate some funds, you just might win a very special prize too…

As anyone who is involved in any amateur sporting organization or club will know, fundraising is a major part of the gig. Whether it is to get new gear, fix up the club house or pay the insurance, there is a never ending need for more money in the club coffers.

Now, a brilliant idea by the Irish Cancer Society can help you raise some money, give that very worthy cause a dig-out too and maybe even net your club a very special prize.

The Irish Cancer Society have just launched The Big Championship and if you are involved in any sports club or group then listen up.

With taking part in a sporting activity a huge part of cancer prevention (reducing your risk significantly) the Irish Cancer Society want you to organize a competitive fund raiser of any sort. It can be a one-off game, a mini-tournament, whatever suits you and your club best.

Register the event with the Irish Cancer Society and the money raised will be split, with 30 per cent of what is raised going to your club.

The Big Championship runs all year but we want to really push the numbers of people entering so here at JOE we thought we’d offer our services.

Any club or group that registers for The Big Championship in July or August will be put into a draw. The winner will get a package that should make your fundraiser fly.

Our own Jerry Flannery, Munster and Ireland legend if we must say so ourselves, will pop down for the day but that’s not all. As well as having Fla on hand, our event manager will be there to co-ordinate everything, and we will send our videographer and photographer down so that the whole day is captured, and presented in just the right way. We’ll even give you a hand doing the posters and flyers for the big day.
