And they’re at it again. This time Google is looking for answers as to why Google+ invitations are not showing up on Facebook, some of the time.
In a video posted on Wednesday, a Google worker clearly shows the problem that is occurring when someone on Facebook tries to post a Google+ invitation on the social networking site.
When a new post is added to your news feed, that post appears in your friend’s news feed. However when the Google+ invitation is posted it does not appear in the news feed.
Vic Gundotra, the senior vice-president of social business for Google, expressed how he was receiving reports of the anomaly from Google+ users. "I wonder how widespread this problem is?" Gundotra asked on his account.
The reason behind the link not appearing for some people has left many baffled. Google+ is a social networking site just like Facebook so some believe Facebook may somehow be hiding these links intentionally as the two are in competition together.
Many bloggers have since tried to replicate the events in the video with mixed results. Tech website, CNET, attempted to re-create the behaviour on multiple accounts at different times of day, including right after the video was first posted. As it turns out, they had a hard time re-creating the problem.
According to Facebook, there's no problem. “We have seen the video but have been unable to replicate the experience it shows," a representative told CNET in a statement.
