Half-naked Joe Brolly chases intruder through golf course

Controversial RTE pundit Joe Brolly chased a man that had broken into his house through a golf course clad only in his undies.

The former All-Ireland winning corner forward was woken in the early hours of the morning recently, and went downstairs to find a strange man in his house.

The man instantly fled the house, but despite the fact that he only had a pair of boxers on and that it was brass monkeys outside, Brolly chased him up across the Ravenhill Road in South Belfast, over a fence and into the Ormeau golf course.

News of Brolly’s late night, semi-naked escapades appeared in The Sun this morning, although the paper’s source doesn’t reveal when exactly the incident took place.

“It was minus one outside but that didn’t stop him,” a pal of Brolly’s told the paper.

“He ran on to Ormeau Golf Course right after the fella, determined to catch him.

“It must have been a sight to see – him dashing through the darkness in the middle of winter dressed in just his boxer shorts.”

The police arrived at the scene having received a call that the out of breath intruder was being chased through the golf course by a man in his boxer shorts.

They eventually found the man climbing over a fence on his way out of the golf course, arrested him at the scene and later charged him in connection with the incident.

The intruder could have picked a better house than Brolly’s to go snooping around. The man who was a flamboyant showman fond of blowing kisses to the crowd in his playing days is now a high-powered barrister in Belfast and will no doubt have ensured that the intruder was punished to the full extent of the law.

Contacted by The Sun, Brolly confirmed that the incident took place, but didn’t want to make further comments because of an upcoming court case. He did say that he was wearing “boxer shorts only” at the time and added that: “I remember it was freezing that night”

Brolly’s pal continued: “Joe is not the kind of man to be messed with.

“He had heard something in the house when he was there with his wife and children in the early hours of the morning.

“The intruder pretty soon found out it was the wrong house to target.”
