Happy retirement Jim Ross; here’s some of the WWE legend’s best commentary dubs

JOE

The WWE commentary legend retired yesterday, so we just had to dig up some of the best uses of his most famous call.

The 1998 Hell In A Cell match between The Undertaker and Mankind is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest, and most brutal, WWE fights of all time. Mick Foley (Mankind) was flung from the top of the Cage, a fall of 16 feet onto an announcers table at one point and a choke slam on the roof of the cage accidentally resulted in the roof giving way so Foley unexpectedly fell to the floor of the ring instead, getting genuinely knocked out in the process.

The first incident, the fall through the table, led to WWE commentator Jim Ross’s most famous call, which includes the immortal line ‘As God is my witness, he is broken in half’.

That bit of commentary has since been overdubbed onto all sorts of videos, so here’s a few of our favourites. Trust us, a bit of Jim Ross commentary makes everything better.

Perfect

It doesn’t just work for sport

It can do basketball too

And Manny Pacquiao

And runaway medical vehicles…

Enjoy your retirement JR (he’s quitting the WWE after 20 years to concentrate on his BBQ business. Seriously). At least we’ll always have your famous call to use for ever and ever…
