Hull relegated following Wigan’s late leveller

Hull join Portsmouth as the second team to be relegated from the Premier League as they drew 2-2 at Wigan today

Hull were officially relegated from the Premier League today after drawing 2-2 with Wigan at the DW Stadium.

When it looked like Hull would take it to the last game of the season leading 2-1 – Steve Gohouri cruelly equalised for the Latics to send the Tigers packing to the Championship.

Victor Moses had put Wigan ahead before Will Atkinson levelled heading in Kevin Kilbane’s swinging cross. Mark Cullen then nodded Hull in front on 64 minutes, before Moses struck three minutes into injury time to break Hull hearts.

The result means Irishmen Caleb Folan, Kilbane, and Stephen Hunt will play in the Championship next year. However stars such as Hunt and Jimmy Bullard expected to leave the KC Stadium as a result. It remains to be seen whether Ian Dowie will remain in charge of the club.
