On the 15th anniversary of the death of Dermot Morgan, we take a look back at some of his greatest and most hilarious moments in Father Ted.

Hard as it must be to believe for the many, many fans of the show, today marks the 15th anniversary of the death of Dermot Morgan, known for his performances on the likes of The Live Mike and Scrap Saturday, but best remembered for his portrayal of Father Ted Crilly in Father Ted.

To commemorate the occasion, we decided to revisit some of Ted’s best moments from the show and although there are only ten clips below, it could easily have been 100 such was the impact of the show, its wide-ranging appeal and the fact that it is as popular now as it ever was.

Certain clips were hard to come by, so apologies if there are any glaring omissions below, but otherwise enjoy some of Ted’s best moments from what will probably go down as the greatest Irish comedy of all time.

“Those cows are small, the ones out there are far away.”

“He’s lost the trust of his sheep. That’s punishment enough… for a farmer who deals primarily in sheep.”

“It’s Ireland’s biggest lingerie section I understand.”

“Of course, they all have lovely bottoms.”

“Hey, we’re on a plane.”

“The second best priest…”

“Oh Ted look, it’s a big bunch of boxes in the middle of the road!”

“That would be an ecumenical matter.”
