Everton defender and Republic of Ireland under-21 international Shane Duffy has signed for Burnley on loan.
The 19-year-old will stay with the Clarets for an initial 28-day loan period, though the Burnley manager hopes to sign him next year too.
"I'm delighted with the deal,” Burnley manager Eddie Howe told the club’s official website.
"It's a double benefit in that it gives us a chance to look at him with a view to next season but he also increases competition for places now and comes straight into the squad.
"He's a young player who has done very well this season for Everton's reserves and he is a player with big potential."
Duffy garnered a cap for the Northern Ireland B team in 2009 before switching allegiances to the Republic of Ireland the following year.
