Former Ireland boss Eddie O’Sullivan has left his job in the US so is he in line for to step into Martin Johnson’s newly-vacant shoes.
O’Sullivan stepped down today from his job in charge of the USA Eagles, but seemed to like it.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my two-and-a-half years as head coach to the USA Eagles, it has been a rewarding journey working with all the players and staff.
“I was delighted with our progress and overall performances in the Rugby World Cup but feel that it is now time for me to consider other options closer to home.
“The win over Russia and the performance against Ireland on 9/11 was particularly special. I would like to wish USA Rugby every success in the future,” he said.
But now thoughts turn to Eddie’s next job. Johnson stepped down today as boss of the free-wheeling English rugby team, leaving a very large and lucrative vacancy across the water.
Interestingly, O'Sullivan's manager John Baker says the former Ireland coach has received some “interesting enquiries” that are “closer to home” so we have put two and two together and made five.
O’Sullivan sits at 50/1 in the betting but we reckon Eddie could control Manu Tuilagi with one withering glance and he would knock the brash ways out of Chris Ashton too.
Go on RFU, Eddie is just what you need.
