The 27 year-old Dublin-based Garda lives in Kildare but has a house in Milltown and grew up in Galway, playing on the St. Jarlath’s team alongside Michael Meehan in the early 2000’s.

According to today’s Irish Examiner, he is expected to play his club football in Galway this year and has said this week his intention is to eventually settle in the Milltown area.

Kavanagh made his senior debut for Kildare in 2005 and has been an integral member of Kieran McGeeney’s team, earning All-Star nominations in 2009 and 2010.

Kildare’s loss could well turn out to be the Tribesmen’s gain for 2013.
