As JOE gives you guidance on energy-saving tips, today we look at saving energy with your kettle.
There aren’t many Irish people that don’t like tea. There are a few of course, but they are in the minority and some non-tea drinkers focus their attentions on coffee. The bottom line is Irish kettles are some of the most heavily used appliances.
The electric kettle is flicked on and off umpteen times a day and is an obvious target to reduce your bill. Don’t worry, we’re not telling you to cut down on tea or coffee, we would never do such a thing.
But you can slightly change your ways. Heat the amount of water you really need and if you're using an electric kettle, make sure you cover the elements.
Most modern kettles have no visible element so you use less water, you could also try to fill a cup and use it as a guide to fill the kettle, so that you boil the right amount of water.
