Fresh from making Samuel Eto'o the world's highest-paid footballer (€20m per season over three years), it has emerged that the spellchecker-bothering Anzhi Makhachkala also offered Jose Mourinho a €25m per season deal too.
The eye-watering figure comes from today's MARCA, which revealed that the former Chelsea and Inter manager was extensively courted by Anzhi's billionaire owner Suleyman Kerimov.
Anzhi have stepped up their ambitions in a big way this season with the signing of Eto'o and Russian international Yuri Zhirkov, who joined after a spell at Chelsea.
According to the Spanish sports daily, had Mourinho accepted, he would've became the "the highest paid coach in the world and the history of football", however the fiery boss turned down the move as he is aware that his current project at Real "will leave a mark in history".
As attractive as a move to Anzhi may sound, the club is not without it's problems - such as the fact that the entire team live and train in Moscow and fly 1,250 miles 15 times a season for "home" matches in the troubled Dagestan region.
